German

 

The German syllabus equips students with language skills enabling them to understand and to communicate in German.   In this way, students are prepared to holiday, live and work in German speaking countries, or with the German language.

 

The culture of the German speaking countries plays an important role. Students discover, for example, the traditions and customs, music, film, food, sports, famous people etc of the German speaking countries.

 

Students are encouraged to take part in organised school trips to the Germany speaking countries and are encouraged to achieve their potential in this subject to the best of their ability, whether at higher or ordinary level.

 

It is hoped that students would enjoy their study of the German language, and would be inspired to visit the country and also to continue their study of the language, when they leave the Donahies C.S..
